Web 2.0 and social networking in Senior Management 2

continuing on from the last post (ha-ha!) here are some more thoughts and observations...

Podcasts and iTunes

Whilst I guess most people know about iTunes and use it for their ipod, how many senior managers are using this as part of their work?

iTunes (and the other providers) do enable you to find some very useful business podcasts and I find it is a very useful way of keeping informed about the issues in your world and your line of management.

As ever in the new media world, the quality is highly variable. Bad podcasts range from self-indulgent rants to the totally bland. Then there is also the inevitable pure sales blather. I am half tempted to set up a blog to name-and-shame them!!! You have to search around and, if not kiss a few frogs on the way, at least briefly listen to them croak.

However, it is worth looking as there is some very useful stuff out there. So next time you are on one of those all-important, 2-hour-long, global conference calls, don´t just do your emails, check out useful work-related podcasts by searching for them on itunes instead!!

(but you will probably have to get the corporate IT department to unblock the use of itunes first...)

Here are a few of my favourites:

Entrepreneurial Thought Leadership, Stanford University
Peter Day´s World of Business, BBC
Beermat Radio, FT.com
The Bottom Line, BBC
